It was an early start due to road closures for the intrepid staff who made it into Head Office at NQP on Monday 7th July 2014.
Thousands of people crowded the streets of Saffron Walden as the Tour de France riders were given a heroes welcome. Prior to the main riders came the Tour Caravan arriving in Saffron Walden about two hours before the competitors.
Some of the staff from Head Office walked down to see the world’s top cyclists pass by and cheer the riders. Afterwards the cyclists then headed towards London on Britain’s final stage to finish on the Mall.
The success of the London 2012 Games has spurred on a huge growth in cycling across the country.
Cycling is increasingly popular around Nigel Quiney’s head office in Saffron Walden due to the appearance on Monday 7th July of the Tour de France through the town centre. The whole area is feeling the excitement of the event.
The third stage in the three week race starts in Cambridge and then moves into Essex and travelling down Saffron Walden’s High Street before heading to London to finish on The Mall in front of Buckingham Palace.
The resurgence in cycling is also being shown in greeting card sales. The second most popular design behind football in our Man’s World range illustrates a bike racing scene.
